our origins
Chipironi Mountain Coffee was originally started by Alan Don in the Thyolo coffee growing area just east of Blantyre, Malawi, Africa.
As a grower of Arabica coffee the main focus was on green bean production.
Therefore particular attention was paid to the Harvesting, Wet Process, Drying and finally Grading and Bagging.
Grading was done by a machine and then fine graded by hand.
My first love for coffee was in the growing of the crop and the green bean.
It was only later that I learnt to roast and take the green bean through to the Cup of Excellence.
As a commercial coffee grower we have always paid attention to detail and been proud of our AA Grades based on Colour, Size and Lack of Imperfections/Markings.
We now have access to the coffees of the world and have selected our green beans based on
Origin, Crop Reports, Altitude ,Growing Condition/Procedures , Flavour assessment and Cupping profile.
